Reading Recovery is an early literacy intervention designed to reduce the number of children with literacy difficulties in schools.

What is an intervention?

It is additional to quality classroom teaching and not continuous.

Reading Recovery follows ‘good first teaching’ in Kindergarten.

Reading Recovery identifies children making the slowest progress in literacy learning after 12 months at school.

The two positive outcomes from using this intervention are:

• Short term assistance to bridge the learning gap
• Identification of children needing longer term literacy learning support
