Control Strips

An example of the Control Strips that are installed on most Macintosh computers. These are found in the Control Strip Modules folder which is located in the System Folder.

If you don't want the students to make unnecessary changes to the operation of your computer, remove (delete to Trash or put in another location) all module icons and leave the following. These allow for Monitor resolution and colour changing, Sound source and volumes and music CD playing.

After you Restart, your Control Strip will look like this. You can also empty the trash if you wish.

Control strip items can be removed or repositioned by holding the 'Option' key and draging the item to the trash or its new position.

Please note that removing modules such as 'Remote Access' for home use, or 'Video Mirroring' on a Laptop are not recommended. So think carefully about the uses of the computer first.
