Control Panels - 1

The Control Panel settings represented here are examples of the basic settings that we attempt to do on ALL computers. Although these relate to Mac OS 8.5.1, most are common with most of the computers in our schools, especially the iMacs.

To set your computer up the same, go to the Apple Menu and drag down and release the mouse on the Control Panels Option. (Do not go across to any specific Control Panel, as we are about to adjust several of them with this exercise.)

AppleTalk
For your computers to connect to your school Network, you should ensure the AppleTalk Control Panel is set to Ethernet.

Date and Time
Click Clock Options, we always tick Flash time separators and use a custom clock colour.

Click Select Color..., then click Crayon Picker and click on an appropriate colour that matches your Mac.
