Browser Tips
Navigation
- Use the Down-Arrow (or scroll wheel of equipped mice such as
the Logitech Wheel Mouse).
- Command-Down-Arrow takes you to the bottom of the page in
Internet Explorer and down one screen in Netscape,
Command-Up-Arrow takes you to the top.
- Command-Left-Arrow takes you to the previous page and
Command-Right-Arrow back to a forward page.
- IE 5 also allows you to hierarchically navigate through web
sites via the path of the open page by command-clicking on the
page name in the title bar, allowing you to easily specify which
level you want to go back to.
- IE 5 lets you navigate through each link on a page by pressing
the ab key. You can follow a link by pressing return.
- Both Netscape and IE 5 provide alternative pages for you to
view on the same topic as your current page. This option is found
on the right-hand side of the address bar. Netscape calls it
"What's Related".
- When holding the Command key with IE 5, you can use your mouse
(click-and-drag) to move the page (scroll) up, down or side
ways.
Bookmarks (Favorites)
- Further customise your Bookmarks by selecting Bookmarks -->
Edit Bookmarks (Netscape) or Favorites --> Organise Favorites
IE.
- Add links to your Toolbar Favorites (Personal Toolbar) by
simply dragging the link onto the Toolbar.
- Add the Currently Viewed Page to the Toolbar Favorites
(Personal Toolbar)
by dragging its icon to your designated position on the Favorites bar.
Control Clicking
When you Control-Click (right-mouse on two button mice such as the
Logitech Wheel Mouse) on certain objects, a relevant menu appears
providing greater power to the user.
- Control-clicking on a link lets you open the link in a new
window, so you can continue to read the current page whilst the
link page downloads or you can choose to add it to your
Favorites.
- Control-clicking on a graphic lets you save or copy the
graphic.
- Control-clicking on a page lets you navigate back or forward,
view the page source or Refresh (reload) the page.
